I mean, seriously. I like the guy too, he’s heaps lulz, but there’s a bit of a level of cognitive dissonance there that goes beyond sexual orientation, yanno?

(Though, didn’t they change that a bit in the remake? As in, make it less obvious as to whether he was originally guilty or not? Not that it matters: Jackie Earle Haley, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Robert Englund is the best Freddy of all time, et cetera.)

He primarily kills teenagers on-screen (one would assume for ratings reasons), but his pre-death backstory it specifically refers to him as a “child murderer”, implying his victims were younger.

Edited: Ah, Wikipedia to the rescue; he was, indeed, explicitly a child molester in the film’s original script, but it was “toned down” because of a string of Really Real World cases at the time. The remake with JEH (which, shamefully, I have not seen) allegedly restores this charming trait.
